Ultimate Keep Away

Game Description:
A vigorous game to get the kids and your heart rate up while practicing tons of fundamental movement skills.
Objective:
Try to keep the frisbee away from the other team! Keep the passing streak going as long as you can!
Game Rules:
This game works best with about 2-3 leaders and 8-12 children, but other group sizes will work too. This game is Leaders vs. Kids and requires a lot of effort and physical exertion from the leaders. The objective of the game is for the leaders to pass the frisbee back and forth between them without the kids intercepting it or knocking it away. Before play starts, have a brief discussion about defensive strategies. Ask the children if they should always just run towards the frisbee, or if they should watch the players who don't have the frisbee? Explain that it is much more difficult to complete a pass to a leader if there are kids around them covering them and able to knock the frisbee away if they are close enough. Start playing by running around the field and making throws to the other leaders; the harder you run and play the harder the kids will need to run. You will notice that as you play more rounds the kids will start to have a better feel and understanding up playing defense. After a few rounds switch rules and tell the children that they will need to pass the frisbee in amongst themselves and try to keep it away from the leaders. Before playing, ask the children if they should all be close and clumped together, or if they should spread out and move around? Explain the concept of open space and moving to get away from defenders. There are only two rules for this round, the first being that once a player gets the frisbee, they must throw it in 5 seconds. The second rule for this round is that everybody must be included while they are passing to each other. If a couple players are only passing to each other and not sharing then they must use only their left hand for 1 full minute.
Adaptations (optional):
