Barnyard

Game Description:
A great warm up game that gets kids running.
Objective:
To get to the other side of the playing area without being tagged.
Game Rules:
Form three to five teams, depending on how many children you have. Teams get into groups at one end of the gym. Each team has a designated name (for example, sheep, cows, horses, pigs, etc.). Two to three players are "it" in the middle of the gym and tries to tag players running to the other side. "It" calls our the names of the animals and those teams must run to the other side of the gym without being caught. (for example: if "it" yells Sheep!, all the sheep must run). When Barnyard is called, everyone must run to the opposite end. If anyone is caught while running across the gym, they must run around the barnyard (a lap of the gym or playing area) once before playing again.
Saftey Considerations:
Keep children's shoes tied at all times.
Adaptations (optional):
Instead of having the kids run everywhere, you could have them skip, hop, or gallop.
